Scotland V New Zealand – Heading For A Sellout
It’s less than one month to go until Scotland open their EMC Tests with the visit of New Zealand to Murrayfield and already nearly 50,000 tickets have been sold.On the back of Scotland’s victorious three-match summer tour to the southern hemisphere, an extensive marketing campaign, which includes prime-time TV adverts which began on Monday night, and attractive combined, group and Debenture offers, tickets are selling at a record pace.More tickets have been sold at this juncture than attended the corresponding match against New Zealand at Murrayfield in 2005 and the home attendances in 2008 and 2010 are also on track to be surpassed.”Based on the current daily ticket sales we are on our way to a capacity crowd (67,144) against world champions New Zealand on 11th November and there’s an equally encouraging trend being reported for our two other EMC Tests against South Africa and Tonga later in November,” said Scottish Rugby’s Director of Commercial Operations, Communications and Public Affairs, Dominic McKay.We’ve introduced some new options for supporters this year, the EMC Tests pass, our group offer for clubs and schools and our Debenture Season pass and the response from our fans is heartening.”Our fans also recognise that our EMC Tests matter and will affect the standings for the 2015 Rugby World Cup draw which will take place in London in December.”Some 32 days before the second EMC Test, more than 36,000 tickets have been sold for the match against the world’s third-ranked team South Africa on 17 November, which has already beaten the 35,555 who were present when the Springboks last visited Murrayfield and tasted defeat 21-17 in 2010.Meanwhile, for the visit of Tonga to Pittodrie Stadium in Aberdeen on 24 November, more than 50% of stadium capacity (18,000) has been snapped up by eager fans across the north and north-east of the country.Scotland hooker Ross Ford said: “Thanks very much to all those fans who have bought their tickets for our matches against New Zealand, South Africa and Tonga.”For a Scotland rugby player it’s a fantastic feeling to run out to your home ground to be met with a wall of sound and it’s really gratifying to know that the supporters are so behind us.”Tickets for all three EMC Tests can be bought now online at www.scottishrugby.org; via the 24-hour credit card hotline 0844 335 3933 or in person from the Scottish Rugby ticket centre at Murrayfield Stadium which is open 9am-5pm, Mondays to Fridays, and 10am-4pm on Saturdays.Ticket prices:Scotland v New Zealand, Sunday 11 November, Murrayfield, kick-off 2.30pmAdults:£20,£30 and£50Under-18s and students:£10Under-18s:£15 and£25Scotland v South Africa, Saturday 17 November, Murrayfield, kick-off 2.30pmAdults:£20,£30,£50Under-18s and students:£10,£15 and£25Scotland v Tonga, Saturday 24 November, Pittodrie Stadium, Aberdeen, kick-off 3pmAdults:£15,£25 and£40Under-18s and students:£7.50,£12.50 and£20Special offersEMC Tests’ Pass – An adult can watch Scotland play both New Zealand and South Africa from£35Group offer for schools and all clubs – Eight under-18s with two adults can attend an EMC Test for£40.
