Scotland’s Women go Dutch this weekend

Under the tenure, for the first time, of head coach Graham Shiel, Scotland Women’s 7s, playing as a Scotland Women’s 7s Select, are competing in their first tournament of the season, in preparation for this summer’s two Rugby Europe events.Following training and selection camps, starting last month, an extended squad gathered at BT Murrayfield last weekend (21 May) after which a team of 12 was selected to take part in this weekend’s Amsterdam 7s.The side includes players seasoned in both the full and abbreviated games, including stand-off Lisa Martin, back row Jade Konkel and winger Megan Gaffney, alongside relative newcomers to the national jersey Heen Nelson and Rhona Lloyd. The team (as below) have matches against ROCCE 7s (from Italy) (10.20am), Dukkies (from the Netherlands) (12.20pm) and Norwegian Vikingettes (2.20pm) on day 1 of the event (Saturday 28 May). Opposition and kick-off times for Sunday will be dependent on tomorrow’s results. For player profiles click on each player’s name.Squad for Amsterdam 7s1. Kirsty McConnell (Hillhead Jordanhill)2.
