Scottish Rugby host Youth Rugby Summit 2019

Scottish Rugby will be delivering a Youth Rugby Summit on 10 May 2019 at the Emirates Arena, Glasgow. The event will run from 9.00am till 3.30pm and is free to attend.

The summit aims to bring different clubs and schools together to learn and share ideas about best practice in youth rugby development.

The day will include a variety of guest speakers with different backgrounds in rugby, including Ben Ryan who coached the Fiji 7s team to Olympic Gold in 2016.

Richard Cheetham MBE, a Senior Fellow in Sports Coaching at University of Winchester, recently won Coach Developer of the Year at the UK Coaching Awards and will also be a guest speaker. He has a strong reputation of creative thinking and innovation within coach education and development and will provide a thought-provoking session.

Also speaking will be Claire Cruikshank, Head of Performance Sport at Edinburgh University. A former Scotland rugby internationalist, she is now Head Coach of Edinburgh University Women’s Rugby team.

Scottish Rugby’s Head of Training and Education, Neil Graham commented, “The summit is a great opportunity for like-minded people from the school and club youth game to learn and share good practice. We have some excellent guest speakers at this years’ summit with Ben Ryan kicking off the event.

“We are hoping for over 100 people to attend from throughout the country, in what should be an excellent day all round.”

Alongside a number of speakers, there will be workshops provided by Scottish Rugby staff that will demonstrate some of the key areas of the game.

There is a maximum number of two spaces per school/club for the event.
