Scottish Rugby Secures Kit Deal

Scottish Rugby can confirm today that it has reached agreement with the new owners of rugbywear manufacturer, Canterbury Europe, to continue to provide the playing and training kit for its national teams.Canterbury Europe went into administration in July and was acquired by J D Sports earlier this month.  Scottish Rugby Chief Executive Gordon McKie said: “It’s been a very busy few weeks trying to clarify the future outlook for the Canterbury business in Europe and indeed elsewhere , and we are pleased to see that such a strong rugby brand will continue globally under the new ownership of JD Sports. “After being bought out of administration by JD Sports, we’ve agreed to enter into a new 12-month contract with Canterbury, to allow the new owners and their management team the necessary time to restore the business to good health, but we’ve also retained the option to extend our kit supply contract on a longer-term basis. “Otherwise, commercial deals are obviously confidential, but we are pleased to put this matter behind us, at the beginning of another new season.”Chris Stephenson, CEO of Canterbury, said This is an extremely important association for us and we are all delighted that we can continue the relationship. I would personally like to thank the management of Scottish Rugby for their patience and belief in the brand. We all look forward to a successful season for both Scottish Rugby and Canterbury.”A new Scotland change replica kit (white) will be unveiled in the near future, with the new home (dark blue) replica kit to be launched in the build up to the Bank of Scotland Corporate Autumn Tests against Fiji, Australia and Argentina in November.
