Match Guide | Scotland U20 v Wales U20

Scotland's final home fixture of the U20 Six Nations sees Wales travel to Edinburgh's Hive Stadium. On this page, you'll find the thoughts of head coach Kenny Murray, get to know full-back Jack Brown, read the team line-ups and some useful matchday information.

  • Head Coach Welcome

The penultimate round of this year’s U20 Six Nations is also our last at home, as we welcome a Wales side buoyed by some very good recent results. At the same time, we feel this is a match Scotland can be competitive in, with positives to take from parts of our own last game, against England.

In order to get a positive result this evening, we need to build the things we did well in that Kingston Park game, look after the ball better and take our chances when they appear.

Thanks once more to everyone in attendance at Hive Stadium throughout the course of the championship for their support of the team.

    Kenny Murray,

    Head Coach, Scotland U20

  • Getting to Know: Jack Brown

With the U20 Six Nations being staged alongside the Men’s Guinness Six Nations, we’ve compiled some snapshots of the players who will be hoping to break through in the coming years.

    Name: Jack Brown

    Age: 19

    Position: Full-back

    Club: Edinburgh Rugby

Livingston-born Jack Brown began playing rugby when he was in Primary 3 at Watsonian FC.

Brown worked up the age grades of the club alongside playing for his school George Watson’s College from Primary 5 right up to U18. In 2023, he made three appearances for the Watsonians FOSROC Super Series team in the Sprint.

A previous Edinburgh U18 representative, he was named as one of the fifteen FOSROC Scottish Rugby contracted academy players aligned to Edinburgh Rugby for the 2023/24 season.

Previously, Brown captained Scotland at the 2023 U18 Six Nations festival, and made his Scotland U20 debut against Ireland in the 2024 U20 Six Nations. After missing the 2024 World Rugby U20 trophy through injury, he was selected for Scotland A against Chile in November 2024, coming off the bench in the second half.

He has also this season been involved in the National Academy pilot, where he has been coached by Scotland men’s Head Coach Gregor Townsend and his coaching staff.

Brown was also a competitive swimmer and represented Heart of Midlothian Swim Club at national level. He decided to stop swimming during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown to prioritise rugby.

He cites former Scotland captain Greig Laidlaw as one of his sporting idols while growing up. When not playing, Brown coaches at George Watson’s College.
