Women’S Season 2011-12 Kicks Off
The Women’s season kicks off on Sunday 4th September 2011 with a Talent ID & Training Day for the Women’s Senior Regional Programme. This year’s programme consists of ONE programme catering for BOTH Performance and Development players and each region will host a Senior Regional Squad and a Senior Regional Development Group. Part 1 of the programme will consist of East and West Regional Squads and Development Groups participating in 2 Training Days, interspersed with 2 Match Days, and takes place from September 2011 – November 2011.The Women’s Senior Regional Programme for 2011-2012 will consist of ONE programme catering for BOTH Performance and Development players. Each region will host a Senior Regional Squad and a Senior Regional Development Group. The programme aims to provide senior club players with an additional opportunity to train and compete in rugby during the season at an appropriate level, helping to improve the overall level of the club game and identify potential future SW players. Senior Regional SquadThis is the entry route to the Scotland Women & Scotland Women U20’s Squads and any player wishing to be considered for the National teams must participate in the Senior Regional Programme (Parts 1 & 2).Senior Regional Development GroupThis is a skills development programme open to any senior player wishing to improve their fitness and individual/ team skills. What can players expect from this programme??* Train as a squad amongst peers* Individual and team skill development* Coaching in conjunction with the Scotland Women’s technical syllabus* Opportunity for competition and matchesHow Do I Get Involved?? All players wishing to participate within the Performance or Development Programme should attend the OPEN talent ID event. Players will then be allocated to either the Squad or Development Group. All players should re-trial in January 2012 for Part 2, as this gives new players an opportunity to enter the programme, and allows for the additional regional split. Clubs should register their players prior to the Open Talent ID day.Am I eligible??* Open to all senior Scotland based players, irrespective of nationality* Exiles MUST be Scottish qualified* Players must be aged 18 or over* Players aged 17 must have exception approval prior to participation SUMMARYRegional SquadsRegional Development Groups Maximum Numbers per Squad/GroupUp to 26 players Unlimited – where appropriate, more than one team will be formed per region Selection CriteriaRugby ability, rugby fitness, attitude, commitment to programme. Players must attend Open Talent ID day to be considered for squad Open participation, but players should attend training day prior to festival day to be included in a team PART 1 For each day, all players should register by 11am and be ready to participate at 11.30am. Each event will be finished by 3pm.
