2022 FOSROC SUPER6 TEAM OF THE WEEK | ROUND 4

2022 FOSROC SUPER6 TEAM OF THE WEEK | ROUND 4

Following the weekend's round of FOSROC Super6 fixtures, we’ll bring you a Team of the Week selected from those who stood out for us over the weekend.

The fourth round of the 2022 FOSROC Super6 Championship kicked off on Friday where Ayrshire Bulls ended Watsonians’ long winning streak at Millbrae (24-17), Boroughmuir Bears won a high-scoring affair against Southern Knights at Meggetland (40-28) and Heriot’s won convincingly against Stirling Wolves at Goldenacre (47-12).

FRONT ROW
Andrew Nimmo put in a stellar shift at loosehead prop for the Bulls, working hard on and off the ball. His prop partner this week is Euan McLaren, who was a standout man in a strong Heriot’s pack.

The Wolves’ Gregor Hiddleston retains the hooker spot for his try-scoring display at Goldenacre.

SECOND ROW
Rory Jackson moved into the second row from blindside flanker at half time, and continued the relentless work rate he had shown in the first 40. Heriot’s captain Ruairidh Leishman also keeps his jersey after scoring two tries for his side and picking up the FOSROC Player of the Match award.

BACK-ROW
Josh King won the FOSROC Player of the Match award for the Bears particularly for his carries, often receiving kicks and getting his side going again. Karl Main is selected for the third time in four rounds as the Watsonians openside continued to impress.

Craig Keddie completes the back row this week for a powerful display for the Bears.

HALF-BACKS

Murdo McAndrew was pivotal in the good play of the Heriot’s backs, and grabbed a try of his own from the back of a maul.

At fly-half, Cammy Scott covered the 10 jersey well, kicking well from hand and tee as he maintained a 100% conversion success rate for the Knights. Young Richie Simpson was unlucky not to keep the spot after another solid display for the Bulls

CENTRE
Joe Reynolds put the Bulls midfield under a lot of pressure, particularly in the first half, and earns the inside centre spot.

At outside centre, Jamie Shedden scored two tries, one of which was outstanding, and the 22-year-old was awarded the FOSROC Player of the Match.

BACK-THREE
Tom Brown’s excellent performance at full-back meant he couldn’t be left out, so the Bears man is given the left wing spot. On the right, fellow Bears back-three Callum Ramm caused havoc for the Knights’ wide defence.

Brown’s performance at full-back was beaten only by Liam McNamara, who created Shedden’s first try with a lovely line-break and was a real point of difference in a close game at Millbrae.
