Preview: First Sarah Beaney Cup semi final and men’s Tennent’s National League Division 1 relegation battle conclusion

The first of the Sarah Beaney Cup semi-finals takes place this weekend, whilst the final side to be relegated from the men's Tennent's National League Division 1 will be decided.

In the Sarah Beaney Cup, the first of the finalists will be decided at Peffermill as Watsonians host Hillhead Jordanhill.

The fixture offers up a repeat of last year’s final, where Hillhead triumphed 10-5 at BT Murrayfield.

Watsonians won all four of their group stage games, whilst Hillhead Jordanhill won three of their matches, only losing to Corstorphine Cougars.

The fixtures between the two sides were won by the home team on both occasions in the Tennent’s Premiership this season. Hillhead Jordanhill came out 20-15 winners at Hughenden in October, and Watsonians won 35-31 at Myreside in December.

In the men’s Tennent’s National League Division 1, the result of tomorrow’s game at Myreside will determine the final side to be relegated from the division.

Watsonians need a bonus point victory at home to Aberdeen Grammar in order to avoid relegation. They sit five points behind Stirling County, but with a superior points difference, so a bonus point win would see County relegated to Division 2.

Elsewhere in the division, Ayr travel to Gala knowing that five points from their final two games will clinch them second spot.

Both games kick off at 3pm tomorrow.
