Uncapped McMillan, 25, the former national under-21 captain who represented Scotland A during the summer, flew out with the home-based players from Edinburgh Airport this morning. He was enlisted after injuries affected two other scrum-halves in the squad. British Lion Chris Cusiter was ruled out after he fractured a thumb on duty for his club Perpignan. He will require surgery and is expected to be sidelined for six weeks. Meanwhile, Rory Lawson, who understudied captain Mike Blair on the summer tour to Argentina, suffered a rib cartilage injury playing for his club Gloucester against the Dragons yesterday and will be seeing a specialist on Tuesday. Glasgow Warriors centre Graeme Morrison is also missing from the training camp. Morrison, who scored the decisive try in Scotland’s historic first ever Test victory in Argentina back in June, was deemed not fit to travel by Scotland team doctor James Robson after the knee ligament damage he suffered in his club’s Magners League victory over Leinster. Morrison will now undergo further assessment and daily treatment from the Glasgow Warriors medical staff. In another development, Ospreys have now agreed to release their Scotland winger, Nikki Walker, and should he come through unscathed from his club’s match this afternoon against Worcester, he will join up with the Scotland squad tomorrow. The camp is vital preparation for Scotland’s November matches against New Zealand, South Africa and Canada.
