Two Gordonians In Scotland Squad

Former Robert Gordon’s College pupil Ruaridh Jackson has caused great excitement this week after he received a call-up to the Scotland squad for the 6 Nations opener against Wales on 8 February. Since leaving Gordon’s, Ruaridh has quickly made an impact on the Scottish rugby scene, playing for Scotland in sevens competitions and at under-20 level. He gained a contract with Glasgow Warriors and in November played for Scotland ‘A’ in their 69-3 win over Georgia. Scotland coach Frank Hadden said of Ruaridh, who is still only 20:Ruaridh is a young man with a lot of potential. I’d have liked him to have played a bit more over the last couple of years to give us an opportunity to see what he’s like but we think he merits a place in this squad. He is joined in the 33-man squad by another Gordonian, Chris Cusiter, who has just returned from injury to resume his duties as scrum half for Perpignan. Chris has already won thirty-nine caps for Scotland and has scored three tries, the most recent coming in the 2007 World Cup quarter-final match against Argentina. All at Gordonian RFC send their congratulations to Chris and Ruaridh on their call-up to the squad and hope to see them making a very positive impact for their country during the 6 Nations Championship.
