Four Matchdays in July

The World Rugby U20 Trophy is one of World Rugby’s two flagship U20 competitions and this year is being held at Edinburgh’s Hive Stadium. Played over four matchdays, eight teams from across the world will be battling for promotion to next year’s World Rugby U20 Championship.

World Rugby’s two flagship U20 competitions are the World Rugby U20 Championship and World Rugby U20 Trophy. The two age-grade tournaments are designed to “…increase the competitiveness of global rugby… and provide a meaningful pathway to the elite level for talented young players.”

First held in 2008, the showpiece events have seen more than 1,500 players go on to make their test debut after playing on this stage, including 32 Rugby World Cup winners. After a successful event in Kenya last year, the 2024 World Rugby U20 Trophy switches to the northern hemisphere and will be played at Edinburgh’s Hive Stadium. Played over four matchday, eight teams will be battling for promotion to next year’s World Rugby U20 Championship.

Scotland have been drawn in Pool A of the 2024 World Rugby U20 Trophy alongside Japan, Samoa and Hong Kong China, while Pool B consists of last year’s runner-up Uruguay, USA, Kenya and tournament debutants Netherlands.
