A product of Merchiston Castle School, Tom Currie competed at both U16 and U18 level for the school.
In December 2022, he captained his school team to victory at the U18 Schools Cup Final at Murrayfield Stadium.
In 2023, he was named as one of the fifteen players selected to be part of the FOSROC Scottish Rugby contracted academy aligned with Edinburgh Rugby.
He had his first taste of adult rugby as part of the FOSROC Future XV during the 2023 FOSROC Super Series Championship and made nine appearances for the side.
