Scottish Rugby is seeking to ensure that if individuals have concerns about negative behaviours or matters in any playing environments, that they are able to raise them.

Below, you can review the existing channels of communication available to you to raise your concerns. It is our hope that members of the rugby community can use these channels to allow Scottish Rugby to act appropriately and accordingly in a timely fashion, and create a positive outcome for all involved.

Scottish Rugby encourages individuals who have issues to use these existing channels first, prior to coming to Tell Us, however if for whatever reason you do not feel you can use the channels in the first instance, please use Tell Us. There are no barriers for its use.

Speaking to your Club’s representatives

Your rugby club will have a committee formed of a range of representatives, led by a President/CEO. Each club’s committee and governance structure will operate slightly differently to the next, but should make it clear how and to whom, you can raise your concerns.

Speaking to your Regional Manager

Each rugby club in Scotland has a Regional Manager assigned to them by Scottish Rugby to support their development and individual goals. Regional Manager’s are here to help clubs navigate a range of issues, including concerns of discrimination.

Speaking to the Club Rugby Board

The Club Rugby Board (CRB) is comprised of elected individuals who represent your club’s region. Meeting on a regular basis, CRB review the operational activity delegated to the Board, developing and fostering the game of rugby in Scotland, reviewing and advising on matters of policy and strategy.

Disciplinary Proceeding

All clubs, players and other persons connected to the game are required to comply with the Scottish Rugby’s Code of Conduct and the Disciplinary Rules.

If you, or a member of your club wishes to place a formal complaint regarding on or off-field matters, this can be done via the Disciplinary team.

However, where a matter is more serious, you feel that your concerns have not been addressed, and you believe Scottish Rugby’s Code of Conduct has been broken, you can reach out to Scottish Rugby using Tell Us.

What is Tell Us?

Tell Us is an email support resource created to encourage members of the game to raise concerns or share negative experiences relating to incidents of discrimination at clubs, schools or professional playing environments.

This includes, but is not limited to, racism, homophobia, misogyny, sexism, sexual assault or transphobia.

The dedicated and confidential inbox will be monitored on a daily basis, with submissions shared to experienced representatives of Scottish Rugby’s Rugby Development dept, disciplinary and safeguarding teams, depending on the level of support and action required.

If a sexual assault has taken place, we would recommend that it is also reported to the police or reported via 101.

Tell Us is here to give you a voice with the knowledge that you will be supported, concerns will be handled sensitively, investigated when appropriate and addressed for the benefit of all involved and the wider game.
