Fans return to BT Murrayfield as Glasgow Warriors win derby

Glasgow Warriors came out on top in the second derby match in the space of six days as 700 supporters returned to BT Murrayfield.

Fraser Brown and Ratu Tagive scored the tries to beat Edinburgh, as Danny Wilson won his first game as Glasgow Warriors Head Coach.

The derby marked the first professional rugby match in the UK to welcome spectators since the COVID-19 lockdown, and it didn’t disappoint as the visitors edged a physical encounter 15-3.

Edinburgh won their previous match – securing the 1872 Cup in the process – but they could not match Glasgow’s intensity.

Brown scored the first try in just the ninth minute, while winger Tagive’s smart finish in the corner put the Warriors clear in the second-half and ensured they ended their campaign with a win.

Edinburgh host Ulster in a semi-final at BT Murrayfield on Saturday night, with the winner of that game progressing to the final the following weekend.

Player of the Match – Fraser Brown

Glasgow’s latest centurion was immense at BT Murrayfield, scoring a try and leading by example.

Brown still has so much to offer and Wilson will want to build his team around the Scotland international next season.
