Scottish Rugby Schools Week | Tweedbank Primary School
Tweedbank Primary School are passing the ball backwards but moving rugby forwards as they take part in Scottish Rugby Schools Week!
Working with Gala Rugby, children from Tweedbank Primary School in Galashiels have taken part in a number of ‘Try it Out’ with Assistant Development Officer, Murray Wilson.
Each session saw 25 children take part in rugby activity which incorporated ideas and drills from the Scottish Rugby Schools Week resource pack which have been designed specifically to enable schools to facilitate rugby activity in any age group.
Murray works regularly with Tweedbank Primary School alongside Development Officer, Craig Dods.
Their roles are funded in partnership with Scottish Rugby, and together they work with a cluster of 13 schools including Galashiels Academy to offer extended rugby opportunities to children and young people, which in turn supports the club to increase its participation levels.

Kieran Cooney, Regional Manager for the East said: “It’s fantastic to see the children at Tweedbank Primary School get involved with Scottish Rugby Schools Week and have so much fun with it. Animal Tig and Space Invaders from our resource pack were a huge hit with those taking part.
“Murray and Craig do a fantastic job in working with their local community and increase rugby opportunities for all, and it’s really pleasing to see the relationships they have with their cluster of schools continue to grow and flourish.
“Moving forward from Scottish Rugby Schools Week, Craig and Murray will continue to work closely with the school to help transition players into the likes of Easter camps, mini rugby sessions and other specific rugby activations throughout the year.”
