Jones jackals and comes up with the ball, and Scotland kick to the skies. It goes loose and Gibson-Park breaks up the left, chipping over the top. Kinghorn gets there first but is carried over his own line.

Dobie stopped inches short and then Ireland turn it over, but Ireland’s backs were offside at the scrum.

He decides it’s a “natural action” and it will just be a scrum, around 10 metres out. Henshaw will count himself lucky.

Almost nothing went right for Scotland in that opening 40, losing Finn Russell and Darcy Graham to injuries, but a van der Merwe special right at the end means we go in 12 behind.

The backs go to the left where van der Merwe gets the ball and heads for the corner. As two players go to put him in touch, he gets his feet up and the ball down for his 31st Scotland try. Kinghorn misses the conversion to end the half.

Ireland’s forwards try to keep the ball until half time, but they seal off at the ruck and Scotland will have a tap and go penalty five metres out.
Half-decent maul, nothing special, then Ireland wrap the ball up and the chance is gone.

Ireland pinch the lineout and clear, but then the forwards drive through the middle with big Sutherland and Zander Fagerson carries, then Ireland don’t roll away.

A nasty collision between Graham and Russell at the knock-on there. Russell goes for an HIA, and on comes Stafford McDowall, and a permanent replacement for Graham as Jamie Dobie comes on.
Lowe breaks up the left, but his inside pass meant for Gibson-Park is crucially touched by the finger tips of Graham and Ireland knock forward. It goes dead so we’ll have a goalline dropout again.
Scotland survive once more and will kick from our line.
