Stephen Gemmell

Stephen GemmellStephen Gemmell returned to the head coach position of Scotland 7s at the 2013 Wellington 7s, after an initial four-year stint between 2006 and 2010.

Tagged as the most successful abbreviated national coach, Gemmell has led Scotland 7s to numerous Cup quarter-finals and two Cup semi-finals in the HSBC Sevens World Series and helped them lift the 2009 Rugby World Cup 7s Plate in Dubai. He was also in charge when the team finished sixth in the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

As well as Scotland 7s, Gemmell is Head of Performance Development for Scottish Rugby and has been assistant coach for Scotland A, Scotland Women and Scotland under-19. He played his club rugby for Ayr, Wigtownshire and Kilmarnock.
