Scotland warm-up for Women’s Six Nations

16 Jan 2020

Scotland Women travel to Spain this weekend for a warm-up fixture against Spain. The fixture will be a great opportunity for Philip Doyle’s side to prepare for the Women’s Six Nations fixtures that lie ahead.

This Sunday’s fixture is available to watch on BBC Alba and you can also visit scottishrugby.org for in-game updates straight from the pitch in Almeria. The squad travelling to Spain for the fixture was announced early last week online, with the team to play announced on Friday 17 January.

Head Coach Philip Doyle said: “I am excited to get to Spain and get this busy year underway. We had a camp at the start of January, which was a very physical, tough camp for the players. They were all worked extremely hard and all players were able to keep their work rate up and really push themselves.”

Spain are currently ranked 9th in the world, Scotland are 11th having moved up one following their series win in South Africa, and are the reigning Rugby Europe Women’s Champions. If they retain this title they will join Scotland, Ireland and Italy in the Rugby World Cup qualifying tournament next September.

All focus will turn to the Women’s Six Nations after the full-time whistle blows in Spain. Following an opening test away to Ireland to kick things off for Scotland, they welcome defending Grand Slam champions England to Scotstoun in Round 2 on Sunday 9 February.

Their other home match will also be at Scotstoun in a big Saturday night fixture against France on Saturday 7 March.

Tickets are already on sale for Scotland Women’s home fixtures with adult tickets just £15, Under-18s paying £5 and Under-12s just a pound. To buy tickets and for more information visit here.
