Super6 Pro-Alignment Fixture | Guide to the Game
This Saturday (18 June) selected players from the FOSROC Super6 Sprint Series will combine into two teams representing Edinburgh and Glasgow for a Pro-Alignment fixture at Millbrae, Ayr (kick-off 1.30pm), live on the Scottish Rugby website.
Why is this fixture happening?
The Super6 Pro-Alignment Fixture seeks to provide a closer alignment to the pro-teams for those stand-out players who have performed well across the course of the Sprint Series.
In doing so it will provide a further competitive opportunity for them to play and reinforce the connections the clubs and players have to their respective Scottish professional teams.
As winners of the 2021 FOSROC Super6 Ayrshire Bulls earned the right to host this match.
How will the teams be selected?
FOSROC Super6 teams are already aligned to one of Scotland’s two pro-teams, this alignment provides development opportunity for players, coaches and off-field staff across the course of the season – not just for this fixture.
Players from Ayrshire Bulls, Stirling County and Boroughmuir Bears will represent the Glasgow with players from Watsonians, Heriot’s Rugby and Southern Knights representing Edinburgh.
Teams will be selected by their respective coaching teams; Pete Horne, Ben Cairns and Graham Shiel will take charge of the Glasgow side whilst Fergus Pringle and Bruce Ruthven will lead the Edinburgh side.
Who will be playing in the fixture?
All players who feature this weekend will be registered FOSROC Super6 Sprint Series players and must be part of one of the six teams 32-man squads.
Scotland U20 Players won’t be involved in this fixture as they finalise their preparations for the U20 Summer Series with their first game next Saturday [25 June]. As a number of the FOSROC Scottish Rugby Contracted Academy players are involved in the U20 programme team it is unlikely you will see too many of them selected for this fixture.
What are the details and how can I watch it?
You can head along to Millbrae on Saturday, kick-off is 1.30pm and entry is only £5! (with U18s going free).
If you can’t make it to Ayr you can watch live on the Scottish Rugby website from anywhere in the world, with commentary from Paul Mitchell and Dale Clancy.

What the Coaches said:
Ben Cairns (Glasgow): “There is a really good mix of youth and experience within the squad and we have been delighted with how the group has come together this week. 10 Bulls, 8 County men and 5 Bears make up the match 23. Connor Gordon and Marcus Holden will co-captain the side.
“As with touring, representative weeks are always very special and this week has been no different. These players have deserved the opportunity to represent Glasgow off the back of a successful FOSROC Sprint Series and we are all really looking forward to them pulling on the jersey on Saturday.
“Saturday’s match gives the players another chance to get in the shop window and we’ve tried to ensure we create a game plan which allows them to make the most of this. We have emphasised the enjoyment factor all week and we hope this shines through in the way the players go out and express themselves on Saturday.”
Fergus Pringle (Edinburgh): “Fergus Pringle said: “The East squad is made up of 9 Watsonians players, 5 Heriots players, 3 Knights players and 4 Bears players.
“The pressure has been off this week and our squad have enjoyed 2 pretty light sessions together, getting to know each other and putting some plans in place for the game. Things will definitely get more serious on Saturday when players pull on the jersey and will want to represent themselves, their clubs and the East team well, with a performance they can be proud of.”
