Martyn Hawthorn, president of the West League 2 outfit, confirmed: It’s been a hugely successful event all round. Having a couple of internationals there at the start really geed everyone up and got them focussed on the task in hand, and the results will soon be there for all to see in the shape of better facilities at the ground.Everyone who took part should feel extremely proud of themselves, because not only have they negotiated a pretty taxing physical challenge, theyve raised an impressive amount of money, the benefit of which will be felt for a long time to come.Hawthorn, who is Scottish Rugby’s Regional Referee Development Manager for Glasgow, also happens to be Celia’s father. The Moffat Academy former pupil, who plays centre or anywhere in the back three, will shortly head to Surrey to represent Scotland Women at the Rugby World Cup. The 21-year-old said: It’s obviously a busy time for all the girls who are about to go down south, but it was great to be a part of something so worthwhile. So much hard work goes into keeping clubs like Moffat running smoothly, and it’s a pleasure to be able to help out in any way I can.Webster, a keen cyclist, was similarly enthusiastic about being involved in the event. The Edinburgh wing said: Im always really impressed by the level of commitment and passion that you find in the club game. I enjoyed meeting the Moffat guys and finding out what they want to do for their club, and the fact I got to do a bit of cycling at the same time was really the icing on the cake.
