Scotland Learn Final World Cup Opponent
Shortly after winning their second successive EMC Autumn Test victory over Samoa (19-16), Scotland learned of their fourth 2011 Rugby World Cup opponents, Romania. The victory completes Scotland’s group having already confirmed England, Argentina and Georgia as their other opponents in the qualifying stage. The Romanians beat Uruguay 39-12 to clinch the 20th and final berth in the competition to be held in New Zealand next year. The Uruguayans had held Romania, who have qualified for all seven World Cups, 21-21 in the first leg of the repechage in Montevideo two weeks ago but in the crunch match tries from Csabi Gal, Alexandru Manta, Catalin Fercu and Madalin Lemnaru as well as a penalty try and 12 points from the boot of fly-half Danut Dumbrava sealed the victory at the Arcul de Triumf Stadium in Bucharest.
