Scottish Rugby Extends Sympathies To New Zealand

Following the tragic earthquake in Christchurch New Zealand, Ian McLauchlan, Scottish Rugby Union President, passed on the union’s deepest sympathies to the New Zealand people.McLauchlan said: “Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the people of Christchurch and all New Zealanders at this very difficult time.”Scottish Rugby officials recently visited New Zealand as part of the preparations for the Rugby World Cup later this year and received an extremely warm welcome. McLauchlan added: Scottish Rugby will assist our friends in the NZRU and the people of New Zealand in any way that we possibly can.The Scotland team will be based in Christchurch for a proportion of the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand. Scottish Rugby is keeping in close contact with the IRB and NZRU.
