Scotland 7s head coach, Stephen Gemmell, has brought in two seasoned Scotland internationals to his 12-man squad for the Emirates Airline Glasgow 7s this weekend (3-4 May). Nick De Luca, capped 41 times for Scotland, will win his first HSBC Sevens World Series cap since Hong Kong in 2006, while Richie Vernon, capped 20 times for the national team, comes in for the first time since San Diego in 2009.Gemmell said: “Thank you to Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh Rugby for their support to the squad for the Glasgow 7s. “Bringing in two players of the international quality of Nick [De Luca] and Richie [Vernon] gives me an opportunity to help us continue to strive for improved consistency in the World Series and to look at my options for the Commonwealth Games, particularly with that team announcement approaching in May.Nick has a sevens pedigree to his game and Richie comes in from a successful set-up at Glasgow.  I look forward to seeing what they can offer this team.Also returning to the squad for the first time since the Rugby World Cup Sevens in Moscow last summer is Ayrshire-born, Colin Shaw.Gemmell continued:  “I’m pleased to welcome Colin [Shaw] back into the squad to win his first World Series cap since Glasgow and London last year.  He is a very experienced player who will add to the dynamic of the team.”Returning from the Hong Kong Bowl winning squad last month is Scott Riddell, Colin Gregor (captain), Andrew Turnbull, Michael Maltman, Chris Dean, Scott Wight, Lee Jones and James Eddie.  Alex Glashan comes back in having been involved in the Tokyo tournament in March.Scotland 7s play Australia (12.42pm), USA (4.10pm) and Spain (7.21pm) in Pool D on day one at the Emirates Airline Glasgow 7s.  Their day two fixtures will be determined by their results on Saturday.Gemmell concluded: “Our performances on the last day in Hong Kong were three of our best this year.  It’s always exciting having the opportunity to play at a home tournament in front of a crowd predominantly on your side. We hope to build on those performances in Hong Kong so we can progress in the World Series and give our support results they can be proud of.”Scotland 7s squad for the Emirates Airline Glasgow 7s, Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 May at Scotstoun Stadium: Scott Riddell, Colin Shaw, Richie Vernon (Glasgow Warriors), Alex Glashan, Colin Gregor (captain), Nick De Luca (Edinburgh Rugby), Andrew Turnbull, Michael Maltman, Chris Dean, Scott Wight (Glasgow Warriors), Lee Jones (Glasgow Warriors), James Eddie (Glasgow Warriors).Ticket information for Glasgow 7sTickets for the 2014 Emirates Airline Glasgow 7s tournament, the eighth leg of the HSBC Sevens World Series, are available now on general sale, starting from only£20 per person and£10 for under-18s, students and senior citizens.Tickets are on sale for designated stands and for designated days, with weekend passes also available from£35.
