Successful clubs set to benefit from Scottish Rugby fund
Scottish Rugby today announced the 24 clubs set to benefit from the FastTrack strand of the Club Sustainability Fund. The FastTrack strand, which replaced Scottish Rugby’s small facilities fund, allows clubs to apply for 50% of maintenance and improvement projects up to£2000.The successful clubs span the length of the country, and have requested the investment support for a variety of different projects from changing room refurbishment to floodlight repair. Nick Rennie, Scottish Rugby’s Head of Club Services, said: “We’re delighted the successful clubs can benefit from this funding, and develop their facilities to make their club a better place to play, train and socialise. “We want to ensure that clubs can act as community hubs, and live at the heart of their respective areas’ sporting and social activities. This money can help contribute towards that objective and enable the clubs to build for their future. “We look forward to seeing the projects develop over the coming months.” One of the 20 clubs granted with a full-award is Carrick, which has forged strong links with their local school to develop a sustainable and future-proof rugby community in South Ayrshire. With a strong emphasis on growing their youth playing numbers and the women’s and girls’ game, Carrick will use their grant to help build a new female only changing room. Gordon Brown, who holds senior roles both within the club and the local school’s rugby programme, said: “The building gives the school and club rugby a home and focal point for the community, which is vital to our continuing growth.”This grant will benefit us hugely as it gives our 20 sides, from P1 to club 1st XV, changing rooms and a base to work from and develop. “We now have over 400 players in the area and in improving the building facilities – in which the changing room revamp is crucial – it will help us to provide a comfortable and welcoming environment for our junior sections.”Scottish Rugby received 34 applications, 20 of which received a full-reward, with a further four clubs being granted part-funding.
