Miller returns for Cape Town 7s

Core member Ally Miller returns to the Scotland 7s squad ahead of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series event in Cape Town, South Africa this weekend.

Core member Ally Miller will join the Scotland 7s squad at the the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series event in Cape Town, South Africa this weekend.

Head Coach Ciaran Beattie has lost the services of Kyle Rowe, who injured his collar bone in Scotland’s final match in Dubai against Kenya. The 13th man in South Africa will be Nyle Godsmark.

After a chastening opening series leg, during which Scotland finished 14th, the squad have made the trip to Cape Town where they are drawn in Pool C alongside England, France and Spain in an all-European group.

The Scots face England in their event opener on Friday, before going on to play France and Spain on Saturday at the Cape Town stadium.

Beattie has challenged his players to build on some encouraging moments from Dubai.

He said: “There were positives to be taken in particular from our games with USA and Ireland.

“The great thing about this series is the opportunity to get back on track is never far away and as a group we’ve talked about a consistency of performance that would lend itself to stronger results.

“Every fixture in Cape Town will present its own challenge but I’d like to think that we can cause any side problems.”
