Shiel added to Scotland squad
12 Jun 2018
Newly-signed Edinburgh scrum-half Charlie Shiel (20) has been added to the Scotland squad as an injury replacement for Ali Price.
The Glasgow Warriors nine sustained a groin injury in the national team’s opening summer tour win over Canada in Edmonton (48-10), with further assessment in Houston, Texas – where Scotland play their next fixture against the USA – ruling him out of the rest of the tour.
Price will return home today (Tuesday) to the care of his club’s medical team, with recent BT Sport Academy graduate (and son of former Scotland cap Graham), Shiel, arriving in Houston later today (Tuesday), having debuted for Scotland 7s in the Paris leg of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series last weekend.
Scotland will complete the 2018 Summer Test campaign against Argentina in Resistencia on Saturday 23 June (kick-off 4.40pm, 8.40pm UK time), which will be shown live on Channel 4.
