Three of Scotland’s four matches are on home soil over the next six weeks and after meeting up with the squad in St Andrews this week, Healy says he can’t wait to experience the Murrayfield atmsophere once again, after winning his first cap against Italy in the Guinness Six Nations.

Speaking to scottishrugby.org, he said: “I don’t know how you can beat that walk into the stadium. It’s outstanding, they’ve hit the nail on the head, it’s unique, it’s a point of different and it’s just really, really cool.

“It was an incredible day [winnning first cap], I had my family over from Ireland and my family from the Scottish side down to watch the game as well at a packed out Murrayfield. A great start and I was delighted to get across the line.

“My Mum was over for the day. She’s delighted I’m playing for Scotland. She’s obviously from here, and although we lived in Ireland growing up she’s always kept up the Scottish traditions in the house, so she was very happy.

“I can’t wait [for the upcoming matches], it’s great to have three of the four warm-up matches at Murrayfield and how exciting is it to play France home and away where the Rugby World Cup is going to be, so I’m really looking forward to those four games and then after that we’ll see where it goes, but that’s a good start to have.”

Healy comes back into the Scotland camp after winning the URC with Munster and he believes that experience will stand him in good stead over the next few months.

“It was incredible [to win the URC], the whole way it turned out, winning in South Africa, playing the final in South Africa coming back to the homecoming at home, there were so many significant things.

“It was the first year with that coaching group and a lot of new players at the start of the season, so ending on a high like that was incredible.

“It gives me a lot of confidence, working with great coaches and great players, coming from a good club.

“It was a year where I learnt a lot and it was the first major win I’ve had in professional rugby, not that I didn’t learn a lot from the first couple of years, but getting to a final and winning it gives me good confidence.

“It’s not too long a pre-season, but build-up to the World Cup is so intense and can feel long, it is tough so you have to have enthusiasm, you have to have happiness around the place.

“It’s a really good environment [in the Scotland camp] and a good balance between when we’re on and when we’re off. The boys are enjoying it and we’re looking forward to getting stuck into those warm-up games.”

After coming through the Academy system at Munster, Healy will move to Edinburgh next season and he believes he can win more trophies at his new club.

“I wouldn’t have moved to a club where I didn’t think we could win something, I absolutely think we can with Edinburgh, particularly with the calibre of player that we have there.

“There are plenty of boys in here who represent Edinburgh, so we have a strong international status in the squad so I’m really looking forward to getting in with them next season.

“I’m actually moving there this week, I was supposed to move last weekend, but my bags are still in Dublin from the flight! Hopefully I’ll settle in quick enough, but I’ve been in and around the city during the Six Nations and was in and around it on Sunday as well. I’m starting to get to know it fairly well and I’m really looking forward to getting settled in there.”
