“We welcome the Futures side to Bridgehaugh for the second time this season. Their recent excellent performances against Watsonians and Southern Knights have shown how dangerous a side they have become since the return of their U20 international players.

“Our players have prepared well in training this week and are looking forward to the challenge this exciting young side will bring.”

Scott Forrest (FOSROC Future XV) said:

“Having not played in the last 2 rounds due to our rest week and also having to postpone our game v the Bears, we are excited to get back into action against a quality Wolves team this Friday night. The players are looking forward to building on their last performance against the Knights and also for the group of Academy players who had their first taste of professional rugby with Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh Rugby in recent weeks.

“We know from our last visit to Bridgehaugh how good the Wolves can be when they have quality ball to play from and we are looking forward to facing another tough challenge tomorrow night. Our squad this week only has 7 players who were involved in that first fixture against the Wolves but we are all clear on where we need to improve to see a better performance this Friday.”

Ben Cairns (Heriot’s Rugby) said:

“It was frustrating that last weekend’s match could not go ahead. We were well prepared and itching to get back into action having had a bye the week before. It does mean however our squad is fresh and cannot wait for tomorrow’s match.

“Ayrshire Bulls remain in good form. They’ve got quality across the board and are a really tough nut to crack. They have a good kicking game, a strong defence and a quality set piece so we know we will need to be at our best to get the required result.

“It’s a hugely significant match for us in the context of our season, the weather looks favorable and the RWC matches will be shown in the clubhouse, so we hope to see a sizeable crowd coming down to lend their support.”

Pat McArthur (Ayrshire Bulls) said:

“With only a few games left and home semi-final places on the line, this is a key fixture for us. Heriot’s are the inform team and after their postponed match last week they will be rearing to go. With threats in both the forward (set piece) and backs we know that we will have to be at our best.

“The players have worked hard this week and are looking forward to this top of the table clash.”

Alan Tait (Southern Knights) said:

“Following the recent results to Watsonians at home and the Bulls away, we understand how key this game is for us in reaching the top 4. Our 2nd half performance away to the Bears earlier on in the Championship was really disappointing so I know there’s a few players in the group that will be keen to address this.

“Our defence has to be a big factor for us this week, something we need to get excited about and take pride in, be desperate to tackle and put pressure on their attack. We’ve discussed attacking them in key areas and where we think we can upset them.

“We know the type of team we are and know there’s plenty of tries in us. We’ve shown that this year throughout the competition (with the exception of last week) but we’ve spoken about getting points from our defence, turning them over in our gold zone and converting from their mistakes as a result of our defensive pressure. There has been a lot of chat about this and I am hoping the boys can match their words and front up against another tough challenge.”

Graham Shiel (Boroughmmuir Bears) said:

“This week, however, we turn our attention to a very dangerous Southern Knights squad. Southern Knights have been very competitive in the competition and travelling down to The Greenyards will be a stiff challenge for the Bears in Round 11.

“Southern Knights are creating chances and scoring points in almost every game, along with having a committed defence, they are difficult to break down. With margins so tight it will be a tough game this weekend, but aren’t they all!

“From a Bears angle, it was great to get a hit out last week to get things back on track. We were pleased with much of our performance last week, but ultimately were unable to overcome a strong Watsonians squad. We did manage a losing bonus point, which might not be much to shout about, but in itself was progress for the group; to take something from the game along with a significant improvement on our round 1 performance versus Watsonians.

“We now need to find the consistency in our performances, that challenge the opposition and allow us to remain competitive within the Super Series competition.”
