Friday 26 April: Ayrshire Bulls v Watsonians
KO 7:35pm

The first score of the evening came for the Bulls within the 11th minute when an over-thrown Watsonians lineout was picked up by hooker James Malcolm who raced over the line.

Watsonians levelled the playing field just after the 26th minute mark when the ball was offloaded to centre Lewis Berg who, when tackled just short of the try line, army crawled forward to ground the ball. Jason Baggott’s kick was good, bringing the visitors in front.

The Bulls’ responded quickly after when the ball was passed out through the team to Mason Cullen who sprinted down the wing to slide over the whitewash.

Watsonians looked to level the score just before half time by opting to go for the posts after being awarded a penalty for side entry from the Bulls, but Jason Baggott’s kick was wide, bringing the ball back into play.

And the Bulls’ capitalised on it when captain Blair MacPherson gathered the ball from a clear out kick and galloped down the field to offload the ball through his team and finally land in the hands of Andy Stirrat who dotted down in the corner.

HALF-TIME: Ayrshire Bulls 15 – 7 Watsonians

The Bulls wasted no time to get the scoring underway in the second half after a classic charging Bulls driving maul got second row Rory Jackson over the line for his first five-pointer.

Just two minutes later the Bulls added their sixth try when Robbie Orr got his hand on the ball from a perfectly timed offload, sidestepped the Watsonians defence and made a break straight under the posts. The conversion was made by Marcus Kershaw.

And yet another came in quick succession for the hosts when the ball went loose after a tackle and was scooped up by Reiss Cullen who sprinted down the pitch and over the line. Marcus Kershaw added the extras.

Marcus Kershaw had his shot at try-scoring when Andy Stirrat offloaded to the full back who slipped past defence and over the whitewash.

Just before it looked like the Bulls were about to add another five points, a deliberate knock on from Jason Baggott saw the captain sent to the sin bin and a penalty awarded to the hosts.

They opted for the scrum which was always going to work for the dominating Bulls, as the team effort brought the ball to the line and Blair MacPherson collapsed over it. The kick was made by Fergus Johnston.

Saturday 27 April: Southern Knights v Boroughmuir Bears
KO 3pm

Visitors Boroughmuir Bears opened the scoring through two tries by Rowan Stewart and Bertie Taylor.

The hosts responded through lightning quick winger Finn Douglas which was converted by Callum Grieve before Scott Robeson went over for the Bears with George Paul adding the conversion.

Just before the half Marcus Rhodes got on the score board for the Knights with Grieve once again adding the conversion.

HALF-TIME: Southern Knights 14-17 Boroughmuir Bears

Knights came out the blocks in the second half with Hector Paterson crossing the whitewash with Grieve adding the conversion and a penalty shortly after.

They asserted their dominance further into the second half with a try from Angus Runciman followed by another conversion from Grieve and a penalty from him too to close out the game.

Saturday 27 April: Stirling Wolves v Heriot’s Rugby
KO 3pm

Hosts Stirling Wolves opened the scoring through a try by winger Ross McKnight which was converted by Marcus Holden. Team-mate Maccenzie Duncan then followed him in crossing the whitewash with Holden adding the extras.

Heriot’s got in the score sheet just before the half-time break with a try through Jamie Campbell which was converted by Liam Richman.

HALF-TIME: Stirling Wolves 14-7 Heriot’s Rugby

Wolves pulled ahead with two penalties from Holden at the start of the second half.

Heriot’s hooker Duncan Hood got over the try line for the city side in the last quarter of the game with Richman once again adding the conversion.

Wolves winger McKnight then went on to score his second and third tries of the match in quick succession with Holden adding four more points.

The hosts looked to seal their win with a try by Kyle McGhie in between the posts this time with Craig Jackson adding the extras but it would be Heriot’s who would have the last say with a consolation try by Angus Hunter.
