It’s a good start to the 2025 Guinness Men’s Six Nations for Scotland. Three tries from Huw Jones alongside scores from Rory Darge and Ben White make it a bonus point win.

Another important ball-dislodger from Scotland and we get a scrum seven metres from our line. A brief heart-stopper for Scotland fans as the referee awards an Italy penalty before remembering the knock-on advantage!
It’s kicked down to 35m from our line by Russell after the scrum.

Italy kick into the right corner this time.
TJ with a huge right boot down to our 10m.
Gesi gets to the line and goes to ground it but Jordan and Darge combine to dislodge the ball!

Italy’s best phaseplay of the match so far by a mile, and they get to the line where Kinghorn strays offside in the tackle.
Kicked into the left corner. Darcy Graham comes off, and on goes Kyle Rowe.
Horne’s clearance is charged down, but Scotland regather and Negri doesn’t roll from the tackle.
Scotland lineout just inside Italy’s half as Will Hurd replaces Zander Fagerson.
IT’S THAT MAN AGAIN!
We go left from the scrum and Graham is stopped five metres short. It goes back across to the right where Jones has two men to beat, and he gets past them both and stretches for the line. Conversion missed.
Scotland 31-19 Italy
A knock on from Italy is gathered by Graham who charges down the right before being stopped, and he knocks it on himself.
Advantage ends with an Italy kick, we kick it back and Italy knock on once more.
Scotland scrum, just outside Italy’s 22.
Jones is in again!
From the scrum we decide to play from deep, getting it out to Graham on the right. Darcy does ever so well to cut inside and charge through a gap, and finds Jones on his outside for a second score today and the bonus point. Russell converts.
Scotland 26-19 Italy
Italy get the free kick and grubber through. It goes out deep in our 22 on our left.
Horne then finds touch post-lineout and Italy will throw in between 30-35 metres from our line.
Italy maul but Scotland wrap the ball up. We’ll get the scrum just outside our 22.
As Scotland knock on right on the halfway line, Gray, White and McDowall and replaced by Gregor Brown, George Horne and Tom Jordan.
Italy scrum.
McDowall spills it, but we’re going back for Russell getting tackled well after his pass was away.
Kinghorn launches it into the 22 on our left.
Italy break down the right but the final pass goes out. Scotland lineout just inside our half.
Italy get the ball back at the breakdown and Brex finds touch inside our half.
The first Scotland changes today; Schoeman, Cherry and Ritchie off for Rory Sutherland, Ewan Ashman and Jack Dempsey.
Up the jumper from the forwards, a half-break from Graham and Italy go off their feet.

What a gift. Italy level from nowhere.
Russell’s delays in midfield and when he eventually tries to find Jones, Garbisi is there to pick it off and run it in from halfway. Allan converts.

Scotland 19-12 Italy
Matt Fagerson absolutely smashed in his own half, then the jackal penalty is won. They’re going for goal from around 43m out in front of the posts.
The forwards showing the backs they’re not the only ones who can manage intricate handling!
Zander to Gilchrist to Schoeman and the prop makes ten metres. Russell then tries the inside pass to Graham who would be away if he caught it, but it goes forward. Kick tennis then ensues, and Italy put it out inside their own half.
COME ON SCOTLAND!!

Ben White, along with 67,000 Scotland fans in this stadium, very much enjoyed that first half!

The Azzurri win the scrum battle and opt to go for goal again.
It’s on the 10m line of Scotland’s half, left of the posts as Allan stands over it.
Ritchie knocks on in the tackle. Italy scrum just outside our 10m line.
Scotland a bit uncreative there and Italy work out the pick and go pattern and get the jackal penalty.
They kick down to their own 10m line.
Capuozzo can’t gather a pass in midfield and Finn “Messi” Russell volleys with his left foot.
McDowall races after it, and though Garbisi got their first the inside centre carries him over his own line.
Scotland scrum down just left of the posts, five metres out.
White bangs an excellent box kick downfield again. Italy lineout on halfway.
From the maul, Dave Cherry breaks off and finds Ben White who touches down in the corner.
Touchline conversion from Russell is wide.

Negri reaches over a ruck to play the ball illegally. Russell kicks the penalty into the right corner.
Champagne rugby from Scotland! (Is that Tennent’s rugby?)
Long pass from Kinghorn to Duhan on the left, he half-breaks the tackle and offloads back to Kinghorn who is stopped by Allan.
Good hands from Gilchrist and Gray and Russell is almost at the line, but the ball is dislodged forward.
Italy scrum on their own 5m.

Italy kick clear and then Scotland seal off at the ruck.
Italy going for goal again, this time five metres inside our half, just right of centre.
Allan slots it.

Jonny Gray offside in midfield. Italy going for goal on our 10m line in front of the posts.
White’s kick to the skies is knocked on by Duhan on halfway, then again by Jones.
Italy scrum over on our left side.
Russell tries an offload but it falls to Brex, who kicks down the West Stand touchline.
McDowall is tracking back but it finds touch on our 22.
Darge wins the penalty at the breakdown! What a game the openside flanker is having.
Russell kicks to just outside the 22.
First scrum. Menoncello through the middle but his pass goes loose. Schoeman can’t gather and it goes forward.
Menoncello’s grubber takes an awkward kick to evade Russell, but luckily it rolls into touch five metres out.
We’re in again!
Once more it’s from Duhan van der Merwe breaking down the left. His pass is nearly blocked by an Italian hand but falls nicely for Huw Jones, who’s in for his 20th Scotland try. Russell converts.
Scotland 14-0 Italy.
Italy win a penalty and kick into our half, but the lineout is nicked and Kinghorn rampages down the left.
Russell tries a high kick for Darcy Graham to chase, but Ioane collects in his 22 and calls the mark.
From kick off, Ben White thumps it back to halfway and out.
What a start!
Kinghorn felled just short and then from the pick and go Darge gets the final metres. Russell converts.

Italy won today’s coin toss, electing to kick. Finn Russell opts for Scotland to attack the North Stand in the first half.
To kick off 2025, the 100th anniversary year of Murrayfield, co-captain Rory Darge brings the squad in carrying the customary ball from 1925.
Both unchanged from the teams announced on Thursday. Jonny Gray’s last cap before today came in this fixture at Murrayfield two years ago, while Dave Cherry plays for the first time since the 2023 Rugby World Cup match against South Africa.
