25 Jun 2020

On this week's Official Scottish Rugby Podcast Scottish Rugby's Chief Operating Officer Dominic McKay provides an update on Scotland Season Passes, the ongoing discussions with the Scottish Government and some innovative ideas which could be implemented over the next few months.

This week Al Kellock and Jamie McMillan are joined by Dominic McKay who provides a further update as the lockdown restrictions continue to ease.

He answers a number of important questions which were sent in by supporters, including the current status of the Scotland Season Pass, speculation around a British & Irish Lions warm-up match at BT Murrayfield and how discussions are going around implementing a new global season.

McKay also talks about some innovative ideas which are being discussed internally at Scottish Rugby, including drive-in events when games need to be played behind closed doors.

“There is a lot of discussion taking place on what a global season might look like, trying to get a better alignment between the professional game calendar and the international calendar and those discussions are ongoing just now. From our point of view and from a supporters’ perspective, what you want to try and create is the best calendar that creates the best international windows and the best professional windows, so there is the best opportunity for supporters to watch those games and not feel they’re missing out on those games.” – Dominic McKay on discussions around the global season

Keith Macleod, who also joins us on this week’s show, tells us about his incredible journey over the past 18 months. He only started playing rugby last year and is now President of Harris FP RFC in Dundee. Keith started playing rugby with the Caledonian Thebans in 2019 and then moved back to Dundee to get involved with Harris RFC, before recently taking on the role of President.
