Arnold Clark Premierships feature match: Accies v Heriot’s

An Edinburgh derby awaits Raeburn Place tomorrow as Edinburgh Academical host high-flying neighbours from Goldenacre, Heriot’s.

The noisy neighbours will be buoyed by the previous weekend’s action where they closed the gap to first-placed Ayr RFC to just two points, thank to Heriot’s win over Melrose, and Ayr’s first loss of the campaign – away against Currie Chieftains.

Accies will be looking to turn their form around after the past few rounds have ended in close losses. Sitting ninth currently, it would be a monumental result for the home side to overturn the boys in the blue and white stripes.

Five things to watch out for this weekend:

  • It is the last weekend of the regular season in the Arnold Clark Women’s Premiership. Stewartry takes on Cartha in a seventh-versus-eighth matchup.
  • In the Arnold Clark Men’s Premiership, Ayr look to jump straight back on the horse after their loss, as they host third-placed Watsonians.
  • After a few wobbles, Hawick have established themselves in the mid-table, and now face a journey to Marr. If results go their way, they could jump all the way to fifth.
  • In the Bill McLaren Shield match, Kelso will look to fend off Musselburgh to keep their hands on the prize. Mussy will be desperate to get off the foot of the table and keep their season alive.
  • Two of the surprises of the season have been the stories of Melrose and Currie. They meet this weekend at The Greenyards.
