Biggar named as Tennent’s Club of the Month for January
25 Feb 2019
The club have enjoyed a fantastic month on the field with the first XV winning all their fixtures, three of them being away matches in National 2, scoring 24 tries and conceding just six.
The club’s strapline is Biggar RFC: One Club, One Family.
This is particularly apt with fathers, mothers, sons and daughters all working and playing together. In the main, the responsibility for coaching falls on the hard-working volunteers; dads and mums, and friends of Biggar RFC who work tirelessly to help their charges develop skills and enjoy the game of rugby.
The club have also recently improved our clubhouse facilities with a complete refurbishment programme of their main lounge, this to enhance the visitor and member experience.
On the announcement of Tennent’s Club of the Month President John Bogle said “It is a very humbling, but very proud time for me to be President of Biggar RFC.
“We, as a club, strive to offer the best possible facilities and coaching for our players at Biggar and it is wonderful to see two of our teams doing so well; our 1st XV at the top of Tennent’s National League 2 and our U16’s winning through to the National Youth Cup final at BT Murrayfield.
“These two teams are an inspiration to their fellow club members, helping them work hard at training to improve their game and maybe enjoy the same success.
“As a club, we continue to work in the community bringing rugby to a growing number of Clydesdale schools.
“We also work with other organisations in the wider community, allowing these groups to use our fantastic new pitches. Law Amateur Athletics and Biggar FC both train and play at Hartreemill.
“We have recently re-furbished our club rooms to make the member and visitor experience all the more welcoming for all who visit Biggar Rugby Club.
“If you come to a match day or indeed any day at Hartree Mill you will receive a very warm welcome and witness the strong message of One Club, One Family.”
