BT Shield and Bowl semi-final draw confirmed
The semi-finals of the BT Shield and BT Bowl were drawn at BT Murrayfield today to determine who will meet on Saturday 25 March and go head-to-head for a place in the final of each competition. The victors will go on to represent their club at BT Cup Finals Day on Saturday 22 April in what will be a celebration of the best club talent from across the country.In the BT Shield and with one regional final still to play, defending champions Carrick will take on Irvine this Saturday (11 March) at Marress Road to determine who will face Hawick Harlequins in the semi-final tie. Hawick Harlequins overcame Berwick 29-0 in the BT Borders Shield final last month and will face the winner of Saturday’s BT West Regional Shield final, away from home.In the other semi-final, Gordonians are set to welcome Murrayfield Wanderers to Countesswells after defeating Strathmore 13-5 in the BT Caledonia Shield final.Wanderers made it through to the semi-finals of the competition after pushing past local rivals Linlithgow 66-10 in the final of the BT Edinburgh Shield.In the BT Bowl, the first semi-final will see Blairgowrie host Strathendrick after recording a 28-6 victory over Dundee University Medics in the BT Midlands Caledonia Regional Bowl final. Strathendrick overpowered Loch Lomond 25-5 in their respective regional final to secure a semi-final spot and champion the BT West Regional Bowl. Moray will welcome Portobello FP in the second semi-final after the Elgin club edged out RAF Lossiemouth 8-6 in the BT Caledonia Regional North final, while the capital side defeated RDVC 47-6 in the BT East Regional final.
