Building on the success of the first two cohorts, the Youth Panel brings together a diverse group of young people who are passionate about rugby and want to play an active role in shaping its future.
The Youth Panel provides young people with a platform to share their views, challenge ideas, influence decision-making and help Scottish Rugby understand what matters to the next generation.
Members of Cohort 3 will come from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. You don’t have to be an elite player or hold a particular role in rugby – Scottish Rugby is looking for young people who have ideas, opinions and a willingness to make a difference.
During their time on the Youth Panel, members will have opportunities to:
- Influence Scottish Rugby by sharing their views and ideas on issues that affect young people.
- Help shape the future of the game, from participation and the club environment to the wider experience of being involved in rugby.
- Engage directly with Scottish Rugby leaders and staff, ensuring young people’s perspectives are part of important conversations.
- Work collaboratively with other young people from across Scotland and learn from different experiences and perspectives.
- Develop skills and experience in communication, leadership, teamwork and representing the views of others.
The Youth Panel is about more than simply talking about change – it is about giving young people the opportunity to help create it.
Scottish Rugby Youth Panel project lead, Gavin Macrae, said:
“The Youth Panel gives young people a genuine opportunity to have their voice heard and to influence the future of Scottish Rugby. We want Cohort 3 to bring together people with different experiences, ideas and perspectives who are prepared to challenge us, tell us what we can do better and help us make rugby the best it can be for the next generation.
“You don’t need to have all the answers. If you care about rugby, have something to say and want to make a difference, we’d encourage you to apply.”
Scottish Rugby is committed to ensuring that young people are heard, valued and involved in shaping the future of the sport. The Youth Panel is an important part of that commitment, helping to ensure that the experiences and ideas of young people are reflected across rugby in Scotland.
