Donald Macdonald
28 Feb 2019Scottish Rugby is saddened to learn of the death of former Scotland back-row forward Donald Macdonald, who passed away in hospital in Aberdeen last Sunday. He was 87.
Donald Charles Macdonald was born in Banff, Aberdeenshire on 1 June 1931.
Educated at Robert Gordon’s College in Aberdeen and the Royal Dick Vet College in Edinburgh, he won four caps for Scotland between 1953 and 1958.
His first cap occurred in the game against France in Paris in 1953 when Macdonald was among six debutants in the Scotland pack as the visitors went down to a 5-11 defeat.
He also played against Wales in 1953, Ireland in 1958 and then his final cap was in a 3-3 home draw against England in 1958.
His funeral service takes place at Baldarroch Crematorium, Crathes, Banchory on Tuesday (5 March) at 11.30am.
