Defeats for Scotland U18 men in Wales
Scotland U18 A and Scotland U18 were beaten by Wales Development U18 and Wales U18 at Ystrad Mynach on Sunday.
In the first game, Scotland U18 A lost 29-22 to Wales Development U18. Tries from Sam Byrd (2), Aiden Orr and Archie McMichael proved not enough to take the victory.
Shortly after, Scotland U18 were defeated 43-10 by Wales U18. Captain Joe Roberts grabbed the only try for Scotland from a driving maul, and Vice-captain Ross Wolfenden slotted the conversion as well as a penalty.
Scotland U18 men next play Northern Academies in Newcastle on Sunday.
Head Coach Ross Miller said: “Getting 46 players experience in international rugby is excellent for us. We used that to develop a wider squad and it has helped with our selection going forward.
“Our continuity in attack and ability to move the ball is something we’re really keen to develop at this level, so the opportunity to try that under that next level up in terms of pressure is so valuable.
“In terms of the Scotland U18 game, we conceded three tries from set plays and we didn’t finish the game particularly well, but these are fantastic learnings for the boys as we continue to build towards the Six Nations festival.”
