Comments from the Coaches:

Pat McArthur (Ayrshire Bulls) said:

“Southern Knights are fighting for a place in the final 4 and will be desperate for a win after narrowly losing out to Watsonians last week. They are a team that has shown improvement week by week, and are capable of scoring tries from anywhere.

“We will look to build on the result from last week and players know the Millbrae crowd will expect nothing less than their best.”

Alan Tait (Southern Knights) said:

“The boys stood up last week and we were unlucky to not get more from the game so we’ve emphasized the importance of taking our chances when they are presented and being a bit more clinical in the last 3rd.

“We discussed matching them upfront and believe we’ve got the pack to be able to do that and cause them issues at set-piece so I know the players are looking forward to the confrontation and battle upfront.”

Comments from the Coaches:

Eddie Pollock (Stirling Wolves) said:

“Last week was very frustrating with an early red card for Connor Gordon having a huge influence on the result at Bulls.

“We are glad to be back home and will be looking to get back on track by putting in a performance we can be proud of in front of a vociferous Bridgehaugh crowd.

“We welcome Heriot’s who are the form team at present and are a very dangerous free flowing side well coached by Ben Cairns and the rest of his staff. We had a great game earlier in the season at Goldenacre and I am sure the supporters will see another quality encounter.”

Ben Cairns (Heriot’s Rugby) said:

“Having gone into our 2nd bye week top of the table, this match is huge for us to reconsolidate our title ambitions. We are in a good spot squad wise, with almost a full group to pick from and need to make the most of this as we know how quickly that can change.

“We are, however, in no doubt about the challenge that awaits us at Bridgehaugh. It is a huge match for the Wolves in the context of their season ambitions. They have created a buzz around the match as part of their Super Saturday at Bridgehaugh and we know how much this will fire up their squad for a big performance.

“Both teams play in a very similar style. Both like to play with a quick ball and stretch the opposition. It should be a very entertaining match and will ultimately come down to who is able to get closest to their peak performance on the day.”

Comments from the Coaches:

Graham Shiel (Boroughmuir Bears) said:

“Our next-door neighbours Watsonians are our opposition this week, so players have the added motivation of playing local rivals. Watsonians are always a tough outfit to compete against, so we need to find the best version of ourselves and be willing to match the physicality of Watsonians tomorrow evening.

“Watsonians by their own standards have had a mixed campaign, but we know how difficult a game this is having been on the wrong side of the scoreboard in all but one encounter. They have depth of quality in their squad by Super Series standards, so whatever combination of players represent the club on Saturday, they will be strong.

“For the Bears, training has focused on finding form and consistency in our performances, that challenge the opposition and allow us to be more competitive. The players have worked hard through the last 5 weeks to maintain training and focus albeit at times difficult, but we have a hard run in to our campaign to find our competitive edge and a chance to test ourselves against quality, tough opposition.”

Nikki Walker (Watsonians) said:

“Boroughmuir Bears are a very physical and confrontational team who make it very difficult to play. It has been evident in their performances that teams have found it difficult to break them down so we know we will have to be very accurate with ball in hand in order to play the game we want to.

“We have analysed our recent performances with great depth and put the work in on the field so believe we are in a good place leading into the home stretch of the FOSROC Super Series Championship.”
