GB Rugby 7s men fight back to seal Olympic semi-final spot
Scots Ross McCann and Max McFarland featured in an incredible fightback from Team GB, who fought back from 21-0 down in this morning's quarter-final match against the USA.
Team GB started the day with a 33-7 defeat to 2016 champions Fiji, but had already sealed their place in the quarter-finals and progress from Pool B with wins over Canada and Japan.
The quarter-final did not start well however, with Team GB conceding 21 points in a frantic opening half against the USA.
Ollie Lindsay Hague’s try just before the break gave GB a glimmer of hope and sparked an incredible second-half comeback. Tries from Ben Harris, Alex Davis & Dan Norton helped move Team GB back into the lead against the odds, before they held on to seal the win.
The Scottish quartet of Max McFarland, Robbie Fergusson, Ross McCann and Alec Coombes started on the bench, with Max and Robbie coming on in the second-half to help preserve that Team GB lead.
