October 30 & 31 | Tennent’s Leagues Preview
Here’s everything you need to know about what’s coming up on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 October.
It’s time for Round 9 in the men’s Tennent’s Premiership league.
For the second week in a row, Currie Chieftains have the chance to go top with a win if results go their way. They host Musselburgh, who will be looking to bounce back after three consecutive defeats.
The bottom two sides go head-to-head as Selkirk take on Aberdeen Grammar at Philiphaugh.
League leaders Marr, who have only lost one game so far this season, travel to third-placed Hawick, who themselves have only lost two games.
And in a slightly later kick off at 2pm, fourth takes on fifth as Edinburgh Academical host Glasgow Hawks, with the home side knowing a bonus point victory would make them leapfrog their visitors.
GHA’s game at home to Jed-Forest has unfortunately been postponed.
All the games this week, with the exception of Accies v Hawks, take place at the earlier time of 12.30pm.
Turning to the men’s Tennent’s National League Division 1, Stirling Wolves will look to build on their three-game winning streak when they host Melrose, who themselves could go top of the table with a win, tonight at 7.30pm.
Dundee could narrow the nine-point gap between them and Kelso, who have played two games more than them, when they travel there tomorrow.
Ayr, who faced just their second defeat of the season so far last weekend, host Watsonian’s, who are still looking to pick up their first win of the campaign.
League leaders Gala will be hoping to stay at the top with a win against Cartha Queen’s Park, who picked up a second win of the season so far against Highland last weekend.
Heriot’s Blues, who dramatically beat 29-28 last weekend, host a Boroughmuir side sitting second bottom of the table, although even a draw could be enough for them to jump up two places if other results go their way.
Biggar’s match at home to Highland has unfortunately been postponed.
This week, Stirling v Melrose is on Friday night at 7.30pm. All other fixtures in the Tennent’s National League Division 1 kick off at 12.30pm.
