Preview: Boroughmuir Bears v FOSROC Future XV
This weekend not only sees the two semi-finals take place, but also the last game of the FOSROC Future XV’s inaugural FOSROC Super Series Championship campaign.
The young team will travel to Meggetland to face Boroughmuir Bears in their rescheduled Round 9 fixture.
Last time the Bears and Futures met was in Round 2 when the try-scoring frenzy ended in a 59-36 win for the hosts. The seven tries scored by the Futures came from Euan McAra, Jake Spurway, Fraser Wilson, Scott Watson, Charlie Farmer and Amena Caqusau who got a brace.
This week the team sees the return of Robbie Deans to starting prop and Ollie Duncan at Number 8 in place of an injured Tom Currie. In the backs, Johnny Ventesei makes his first start of the campaign on the wing, joining Kerr Johnston and Jack Hocking who make a return to the starting fifteen. The bench welcome Ashton Asante, Ben Weir and Munroe Job who will all be looking to make their debuts for the FOSROC Future XV.
Head coach Scott Forest said: “We were disappointed in large parts of our performance against Watsonians last weekend. We created a lot of opportunities and played the game in the right areas but ultimately our execution let us down.
“We know we will have to have one of our best performances of the season to compete against a Bears team who will be determined to finish their campaign with a win.”
