Preview: Watsonians v FOSROC Future XV

This weekend the FOSROC Future XV will compete in their sixth fixture of the 2023 FOSROC Super Series Championship.

It was a tough shift for the young team last week when they made the trip to face Ayrshire Bulls in front of a bouncing crowd at Millbrae. However, the team did not lack form and continue to build week on week.

This weekend the FOSROC Future XV face Watsonians at Myreside. After their shock result last weekend against Heriot’s, the capital-based team will be looking to return to their familiar winning ways before the stand-by week.

The FOSROC Future XV welcome Corey McCormack and Zak Griffiths into the fold to take charge of the starting and replacement hooker positions respectively. McCormack makes his debut for the team through the Scottish Qualified programme whilst joins from Boroughmuir Bears.

Head Coach Scott Forrest said: “Another tough test awaits us this weekend against a Watsonians team who have quality across their team. We know they pose a physical challenge up front which will be another test for this young forward pack and have a backline that will be dangerous if allowed to play on the front foot.

“We had a lot of positives in defence last week against a strong Bulls team and we will need to build on these on Saturday. We were disappointed with elements of our attack against the Bulls and know that we need to be more confident and brave with our decision making.”
