Known for the glitz and glamour associated with the silver screen, Los Angeles this weekend plays host to suspense and thrills of a different kind in the shape of the HSBC World Sevens Series.

The Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, which is home to MLS franchise LA Galaxy, hosts the fifth leg of this season’s competition, where Scotland will compete in Pool C with USA, Australia and Samoa over the course of Saturday night and Sunday morning (GMT).

The tournament has reverted back to its traditional structure whereby sides are guaranteed at least two matches after the group stages, meaning Scotland will face an opponent from Pool B come what may in the first knockout stage.

Both Kyle Rowe and Jamie Farndale return to the 12-man squad for Los Angeles, with Nyle Godsmark – 13th man last time in Sydney – included and Tom Brown taking his place.

Earlier in the week, Head Coach Ciaran Beattie said: “We are delighted to get back into live action and the events are structured in a way that excites us.

“It was extremely difficult to name a final squad for these tournaments which is testament to how well the boys have trained since Sydney.

“We know USA and Australia well from recent encounters and will have to be at our best to compete with those sides, as well as a very good Samoan squad.”

You can watch all the action live on Sky Sports over the course of the weekend and follow live updates through Scottish Rugby’s social media channels.
