Tennent’s Women’s Premiership

Just two fixtures play out this weekend in the Tennent’s Women’s Premiership, here’s everything you need to know.

An Edinburgh derby match gets things underway on Saturday as Heriot’s Blues welcome Watsonians to Goldenacre.

Watsonians are currently top of the table having won two of their three fixtures played so far, whilst Heriot’s will be looking to bounce back after last weekend’s 17-24 loss against Cartha Queens Park.

Blues’ Head Coach, Lucy Brown said: “Last week was a tough one to take losing in the final minutes of the game, but with a number of players unavailable we managed to get some players the opportunity to showcase what they can bring to the table, and we still came away with a bonus point.

“This week will be another challenge as we know what Watsonians can bring, but it’s a challenge I’m sure the squad will embrace. We have Lucy Winters available this week, who’s an exciting player, as well as some players returning, with more opportunities for the young players to really showcase more of their talent really highlighting the depth we have within the squad.

“It’ll be a big day for the club with the Super6 side playing beforehand on the main pitch, which is a great thing to be a part of.”

Following a break last weekend, Stirling County return to play as they host Cartha Queens Park at Bridgehaugh on Saturday as they look to claim a third consecutive win.

After three fixtures, Cartha currently sit second in the table with 10 league points, closely followed by Stirling who have nine points after two matches.

Mark Ainsworth, Head Coach at County said: “We’re looking forward to hosting Cartha who have made a strong start to the season. We have been working hard over the last two weeks in training and we are hoping to build on our victory against Watsonians.”

Garioch take a short break and return to play on Saturday 8 October when they welcome Heriot’ to Kellands Park.

Tennent’s Women’s National 1

On Sunday, the Tennent’s National 1 Division is back in action following rescheduled games from Sunday 11 September.

Stewartry and Biggar both scooped the bonus point last weekend playing against Broughton and West of Scotland respectively, and this weekend they will face each other at Greenlaw. Having both won their first two matches of the season, they will each determined to go for a third.

Ayr and Broughton are both looking for their first win of the season, and will hope they can claim it this weekend as they go head to head at Millbrae.

After a disappointing result last weekend West of Scotland will look to bounce back at home this weekend where they welcome Howe of Fife to Burnbrae.

All three fixtures kick-off at 2pm on Sunday.
