Women build their confidence in contact at University of St Andrews
On Sunday 10 October, women from across the Caledonia Midlands region came together at the University of St Andrews to take part in a Game Play Opportunities event to build on their skills and confidence in the game.
Amongst those in attendance were players from: Bannockburn, Crieff, Perthshire, Aberfeldy, Dundee, Kelpies Rugby, Bo’ness, Abertay University, Dundee University and Glasgow University.
The theme of the day was ‘Confidence in Contact’.
Scottish Rugby’s Rugby Development department are hosting a number of Game Play Opportunities across the country throughout the 2021/22 season.
The programme offers a player centred
environment for clubs wanting to start women’s rugby activities in their community or the further development and transition of
players into 2nd XV’s.
The series provides meaningful and appropriate opportunities for new and developing players to
experience the game in a safe, supportive and enjoyable environment, offering flexibility to help overcome barriers to participation
and assisting clubs in developing their capacity to support and facilitate women’s rugby.
