France win the Six Nations

It’s a championship for France. It’s two from five for Scotland.

Thank you for all your support during the men’s and U20 Guinness Six Nations.

Next weekend, it’s the turn of the women as Scotland kick off their Six Nations against Wales.

79

Scrum pen

Zander penalised at the scrum. Ball kicked into the right corner.

78

Knock on in the air

Scotland try to compete in the air but knock on.

French scrum just outside our 22.

77

Tackle in the air

Harsh that, Ritchie goes to compete in the air but Penaud beats him and falls awkwardly. French penalty.

They kick to our 22.

76

Scotland lineout

Two teams that have given everything in a very open game, but that means the closing stages feel tired.

Lucu kicks to around 30m from our line.

72

Jackal and sub

1 try from 8 visits in the French 22. Marchand wins a jackal penalty to end another Scottish attack.

France kick to halfway. Gilchrist will now come off as Ewan Johnson makes his Six Nations debut.

71

Held up

A regularity in this championship unfortunately, the forwards fighting for the final yards but not finding the crucial metres and then getting held up.

Goal line dropout.

70

No arms tackle

France clear and our back three combine to run it back. Some strong phases but Russell’s pass goes out.

But a no arms tackle on Ashman is spotted. We’ll tap and go from 15 metres.

67

van der Merwe in touch

Scotland go right to left after the maul but Duhan is in touch before his offload attempt. France lineout deep in their 22.

67

Head injury in Scotland attack; subs

Scotland make it to around six or seven metres out, but Jones is injured and we stop.

We’ll go back for a tip tackle on Russell.

Sutherland, Muncaster, Dobie and McDowall all on for Schoeman, Darge, White and Jones, who goes for an HIA.

65

Scotland looking for a way

Some decent phases from Scotland and kick it out in France’s 22.

62

France streak clear

Bielle-Biarrey with the initial burst and Moefana runs over Russell to score the bonus point try. Conversion missed.

France 35-16 Scotland

61

Narrow escape

Shaky lineout but we get the ball out on our 22.

60

Lucu kicks in behind

Lucu grubbers into Scotland’s right corner. We’ll throw in from there.

58

Double change

Ewan Ashman replaces Dave Cherry, and Marshall Sykes makes a Six Nations debut in place of Gregor Brown

57

Ramos scores France’s third

Acres of space on the left for Ramos, and he converts.

France 30-16 Scotland

56

Dragged into touch after the tackle

France metres out and van der Merwe makes the tackle, but then him and Gilchrist drag the tackled player out.

France kick the penalty into the right corner.

55

Tackle on the floor

Cherry makes a tackle while already on the floor.

France kick to just outside our 22.

54

Escape

Chip over the top from Penaud and van der Merwe gathers. He has to run over his own line but turns, fends and escapes before offloading to Russell who clears to halfway.

53

Ritchie jackal!

Another Jamie Ritchie jackal pen in this tournament deep in our 22 after France gathered their own restart, but Russell’s kick doesn’t find touch and here come France.

51

Converted try behind

France 23-16 Scotland

51

Russell break wins a penalty

Dummy from Russell and he’s down the right flank, then a phase later France go off their feet at the ruck.

Russell going for goal from left of the posts in the 22.

49

Maul steal

Brilliant from Cherry to wrap the ball up and create a maul, and Gilchrist and Ritchie rush to his aid to make it unplayable.

We get the scrum on halfway.

48

On the full

Kinghorn tries the chip kick into the right corner but it’s straight out.

French lineout just inside their 10.

46

Knock on

Guillard with the steal on the floor but he then knocks it on.

Scotland scrum on France’s 10 as the hosts make a host of changes in the pack.

45

Clearance

Scotland lineout on our 10.

44

France on the counter

Excellent start from Scotland, but Russell tries the switch move with Graham and it goes loose.

Ntamack sprints up the left and Bielle-Biarrey finishes it. Ramos converts.

France 23-13 Scotland

42

Mark

France exit, Graham runs it back and then Russell’s left footer is poor and France call the mark and kick down into our half but not out.

41

Back underway

COME ON SCOTLAND!

HT

So close!

We go the length as Brown steals the lineout and White goes up the left. Kinghorn then goes up the right and Tom Jordan is over a phase later.

But on review, Kinghorn was inches in touch. Brutal.

That ends the half, and Scotland trail by three.

40

Poor kick from Russell

France clear and then Russell hooks his clearance into touch. French lineout just outside our 22.

39

France lead once more

France 16-13 Scotland

38

No roll

So unlucky for Brown, an excellent jackal but Cherry can’t roll and France get the penalty instead. On the 22, right in front of the posts, Ramos will surely put his side back in front.

37

Poor restart

Scotland don’t handle the restart well and France get the lineout just outside our 22.

37

Level game

France 13-13 Scotland

36

High tackle and another card

Scotland’s forwards batter into contact. Some good carries from Brown on his first Six Nations start.

Four penalty advantages in a row from France, and Gros goes to the bin.

Russell going for goal from a good position.

32

Nearly intercepted

Russell’s passes grabbed by Fickou, but it goes forward luckily for Scotland.

Our scrum just outside France’s 22.

31

Offside

Kinghorn’s kick charged down but by an offside player. We kick down to France’s 10.

Meanwhile, Mauvaka is back on, his incident with White deemed a yellow and no more.

29

Graham is in!!!!

Great line from Graham!

Russell gets the ball from White and Graham is charging on his inside. He’s under the posts. Russell converts.

France 13-10 Scotland

27

Scotland’s lineout penalty

Woohoo! Our turn for a lineout penalty.

Kicked down to France’s 22.

27

Great clearance

That’s a very good box kick from Lucu. He gets his side down to just inside our half.

25

10-point game again

Ramos now France’s leading points scorer in history.

France 13-3 Scotland

25

Offside

Scotland stray offside as they defend on the line. Ramos going for points five metres out in front of the posts.

23

White the saviour

A kick each and Russell gathers, but his pass goes loose and Lucu hacks on.

White just wins the race back to take it back over his own line. French scrum, five metres out.

22

On the board

France 10-3 Scotland

21

Mauvaka sin binned

Head contact from Mauvaka, but perhaps not intentional as he went to tackle White off the ball. It will go to the bunker.

Meanwhile, the penalty is reversed and Russell will kick for goal from metres out.

21

Brilliant chance wasted, but TMO check

White kicks from the maul, and Graham’s chase causes a spill. Then Scotland win the penalty deep in France’s 22, but Ben White taps and goes and within seconds France get the jackal penalty.

We’re going to the TMO to check a scuffle off the ball after the penalty – did Mauvaka headbutt White on the ground there?

20

Exit

France clear to halfway.

18

First try France

Fickou steps round Fagerson then offloads to Moefana, who scores under the sticks. Ramos converts.

France 10-0 Scotland

15

EXCELLENT DEFENCE!

This time Jordan turns it over!

The maul is brought down by France and the inside centre makes the ball unplayable. Our scrum five metres from our line.

13

Third maul penalty

Jordan in the side of the maul, our third maul penalty already.

Back into the left corner.

12

Ritchie in the sin bin

Three penalties conceded in 12 minutes by Jamie Ritchie. He goes to the bin for collapsing the maul.

France in the left corner now.

11

Not rolling

Ritchie onto the ball at a ruck after White kicks clear, but Jordan hadn’t rolled so he is penalised.

France kick to our 22.

10

End to end

Strong carries from the forwards after the lineout, but then Graham spills and France streak up the left wing.

But then it’s France’s turn to knock on, and Scotland will take the scrum just inside their half.

8

Scottish penalty

Schoeman makes the hit from the dropout and Matt Fagerson is straight on the ball. France don’t release and it’s a penalty.

Kicked down to just inside France’s 22.

7

Goal line dropout

France clear then Russell goes crossfield to van der Merwe with the kick, but the winger slips.

White’s clearance is blocked and then Atonio steals it at a ruck. The hosts hack in behind but Russell gathers and runs it off the pitch for the goal line dropout.

4

It’s good

France 3-0 Scotland

4

Penalty

France send Scotland back at least ten metres with the driving maul and then win the penalty.

Ramos going for points.

3

French lineout

Cherry’s throw ends up coming back to him and he’s put in touch. French lineout around 30m from our line.

2

Good first defensive set

Matt Fagerson melted from kick off but holds on. White clears and then France go through the phases but Russell drags Flament into touch.
