Back in the top tier of European Cup competition

Edinburgh’s Heineken Champions Cup fixtures for the 2018/19 season have been confirmed by tournament organisers EPCR today.

The capital side’s return to Europe’s premier rugby competition for the first time since the 2013/14 season, kicks-off with a trip to the Altrad Stadium to face last season’s Top 14 runners-up Montpellier on Saturday 13 October (kick-off 4.15pm) before hosting French powerhouse RC Toulon at BT Murrayfield on Saturday 20 October (kick-off 3.15pm) in the first Heineken Champions Cup tie played at Scotland’s national stadium in over four years.

December then sees Edinburgh face off against English Premiership outfit Newcastle Falcons in a festive double-header. Richard Cockerill’s side welcome the Falcons to BT Murrayfield on Friday 7 December (kick-off 7.45pm) before making the 125-mile trip south to Kingston Park nine days later on Sunday 16 December (kick-off 3.15pm).

As the competition moves into the new year Richard Cockerill brings his side to his former club and three-times Heineken Champions Cup winners, RC Toulon, on Saturday 12 January (kick-off 6.30pm).

Edinburgh then close out the pool stages with a home clash against Montpellier on Friday 18 January (kick-off 7.45pm) in a match which sees former Scotland Head Coach Vern Cotter return to Scotland’s national stadium for the first time since leaving his position in 2017.
