Ian Riddoch To Join Warriors As Interim General Manager
Ian Riddoch has been appointed by Scottish Rugby as interim General Manager for the Glasgow Warriors professional rugby team. This is a transitional role, pending the appointment of a permanent Chief Executive for The WarriorsFormerly the Commercial Director for Edinburgh Rugby Ltd, Riddoch takes up the role on Monday 18 June and will be based at the Warriors new offices at Firhill, where the pro-team will ground share with Partick Thistle FC. The announcement follows Scottish Rugbya?’s decision in March to channel more of its_ resources into Glasgow Warriors and also empower the pro-team with locally based management with greater autonomy. Riddoch has over 19 years of experience in the commercial sector, predominantly in sports businesses, having worked in rugby union, rugby league, football and for several sports event and title sponsors.Prior to his spell with Edinburgh Rugby, the 40 year old Aberdonian was Head of Sales and Marketing for Aberdeen FC for five years and has also worked in marketing for both Wigan Warriors RLFC and Super League (Europe) Ltd.It is expected that the Chief Executive position for Glasgow Warriors will be confirmed before the start of the 2007/08 season.Ian Riddoch has been appointed by Scottish Rugby as interim General Manager for the Glasgow Warriors professional rugby team.
