Laidlaw names Scotland Women 7s squad for Moscow
Scotland Women 7s Interim Head Coach, Chris Laidlaw, has made three changes to his squad to travel to the second leg of the Rugby Europe Sevens Championship Series in Moscow, Russia this Friday.
Laidlaw has made several changes to the squad, with Rhona Lloyd and Mairi McDonald joining the group, while Evie Wills is unavailable due to injury. Megan Gaffney also returns to the fold after missing the first leg in Portugal due to injury.
For the second leg of the series, Scotland have been placed in Pool B alongside Wales and Spain. Scotland’s first match of the day will see the side face Wales (10.22am BST), before taking on Spain later in the afternoon (12.22pm BST).
Scotland will be aiming for Commonwealth Games qualification this weekend, with the side needing to finish above Wales in the tournament standings.
Laidlaw said: “We’ve been able to remain fairly consistent with selection after Lisbon and also bring back in the experience of Rhona Lloyd and Megan Gaffney.
“Mairi McDonald gets an opportunity which is exciting for her after showing up well in training throughout the programme.
“The players are all ready to get back out there and build on the momentum from Lisbon and put in a performance that the whole group can be proud of over the weekend.”
All fixtures will be live streamed on Rugby Europe TV.
