Barbados join Scotland’s Commonwealth Games group

Glasgow 2014 have confirmed today that Nigeria have pulled out of this summers rugby sevens event at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.They are therefore replaced by Barbados who will join Scotland, New Zealand and Canada in Group A.A Glasgow 2014 spokesperson said: “We have received formal confirmation that Nigeria has withdrawn from the Rugby Sevens Competition at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.We have worked closely with the IRB and the CGF to identify a replacement and can now confirm Barbados have accepted the invitation to participate in the Rugby Sevens competition. The draw will be unchanged with Barbados fulfilling Nigeria’s fixtures in Pool A.”We are delighted to welcome the Barbados rugby athletes for what is a fantastic opportunity for them to be part of a world class field.”
